Kim is the owner and creative force behind Dickerhoof Design. She’s also the general contractor who will see your design project through, from conception to build completion. This type of seamless follow-through ensures that your design ends up looking just like the unique rendering you agreed upon. With her unpretentious style and innate ability to enhance any space, Kim excels at transforming homes into personalized retreats.
Growing up amidst inspiring architecture and traveling widely to absorb diverse design influences, she brings a rich perspective to each renovation. Being a local to Carmel-by-the-Sea gives Kim a unique perspective on the distinct architecture and asthestic of this town. Kim thrives on collaboration, working closely with homeowners to realize their vision and create spaces that truly reflect their individuality.

A FAMILY LEGACY
Kim is a local who grew up on her dad’s job sites in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, where he created storybook cottages with tons of curb appeal. Her 2 older brothers worked alongside their dad, her mom ran the books, and Kim would help with painting and other easy tasks as a young girl. After graduating from Carmel High, Kim followed a path of working with animals in a wide variety of capacities. After 20 years as a veterinary technician, she was ready for a change.
With a strong draw to architecture, home renovation, and decor, she circled back to her roots and officially started Dickerhoof Design. Her parents have passed on, and her brothers have transitioned into commercial real estate. As an homage to her dad’s legacy and the family business, Kim decided to use her maiden name for her design + build company.
